Just Saying & Other Musings

This is a space for curiosity, contemplation, and the kind of deep dives that nourish the soul

Here, you’ll find reflections and resources on various topics, from metaphysical insight and spiritual practice to personal growth and, sometimes, the political moments that shape how we live and heal. Each topic has its page, so you can explore what calls to you without getting lost in the scroll.

I write about what moves me: ideas that spark thought, stir emotion, or deserve more attention. And if you’d like to see something covered but don’t find it here, I’d love to hear from you. Just email me your ideas, and I’ll consider exploring them in a future post.
Let’s keep the conversation going.
If you want to know more about me, there is an About section at the bottom of the page.

From Lateral Violence to Lateral Kindness: Healing the Wounds That Block Your Dreams

Let’s talk about something that doesn’t often get said out loud, but lives in the spaces between us.
It’s called lateral violence, when pain and trauma within a community turn sideways, landing on each other instead of being directed at the systems or experiences that caused the pain in the first place.
You’ve seen it. Maybe you’ve even felt it:
  • The subtle shaming
  • The gossip masked as “concern”
  • The pushback when someone dares to do something different or succeed
  • The withholding of support or information
  • That sense of walking on eggshells around your own people
This is what happens when unresolved trauma goes underground. It doesn’t disappear. It redirects. And far too often, it keeps us stuck, not just as communities, but as individuals trying to live a life with meaning, purpose, and joy.
Here’s the truth I keep coming back to:You can’t manifest your dream life while living in survival mode.
When your nervous system is stuck in old stories, about not being safe, not being good enough, or not being allowed to shine, it becomes nearly impossible to reach for what you truly want. Instead, you shrink. You play small. Or you get caught in cycles of self-sabotage or people-pleasing. Sound familiar?
And that’s where lateral kindness comes in. Not as a fluffy idea, but as a radical and necessary shift.
Lateral kindness is trauma-informed community care. It’s not about pretending everything’s fine. It’s about breaking cycles, starting with how we treat ourselves, and then each other.
It looks like:
  • Naming trauma without blame
  • Supporting instead of shaming
  • Celebrating someone’s growth even if it triggers your own wounds
  • Offering kindness as a boundary, not a weakness
When we commit to lateral kindness, in our families, our workplaces, our circles, we begin to create the kind of environment where healing is possible. And when healing becomes possible, transformation becomes inevitable.
Because here’s what I know:
When we clear the emotional clutter, when we release the old pain that’s been living in our bodies for years, we make space.
Space for joy. For purpose. For connection.
And yes, for the life you’ve been dreaming of. Just click here

I’ve been on the consciousness trail since the mid-80s — back when healing work was still underground and spiritual growth didn’t have hashtags. My journey began in British Columbia, guided by traditional Elders and Knowledge Keepers whose teachings continue to shape everything I do. In those early years, I immersed myself in practices like Rebirthing, Primal Scream Therapy, and Bio-Energetics — long before Reiki and energy healing became mainstream. Each step peeled back layers, revealing not just what needed healing in myself, but what I was here to offer others. Later, in Tucson, Arizona, I became a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Meditation Teacher, and Neuro Emotional Release (NER) practitioner. I also worked extensively with individuals transitioning out of sober living, helping them re-enter society with self-trust and emotional resilience. This blog is where I share what I’ve learned — and what I’m still learning. You’ll find thoughts on metaphysics, spiritual growth, emotional healing, and sometimes even politics — because everything is connected when it comes to transformation. I write from experience, from curiosity, and from a place of service. If there’s a topic you’re longing to explore, drop me a note. This space is for all of us walking the path.
